Block E hasn’t had a whole lot of luck over the years. Closed establishment after closed establishment has left the section of Hennepin Avenue with empty storefronts. In order to spruce up the spaces, the Hennepin Theater Trust decided to fill them with art and title the series “Made Here.” Local visual artists were commissioned to create 29 different displays for the “Made Here” project and the coordinator of the event, Joan Vorderbruggen, is leading a walking tour of it this Friday. Several of the artists will be present to talk about their work and there will be a performance by Matthew Janczewski’s dance company Arena Dances. Take a look at some of the storefronts here and decide for yourself if they’ve reached their goal.
