Minnesota volleyball player Nicole Branagh has been selected as one of 18 athletes on the USA World University Games roster. The World University Games will be held from July 2 through July 10 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Branagh, a junior outside hitter for the Gophers, earned all-region and All-Big Ten honors a year ago after landing 579 kills. Her 5.51 kills-per-game average ranked second in the conference and fifth nationally. After just two seasons with Minnesota, Branagh owns 1,057 career kills.
Branagh is one of five Big Ten players — along with Jenna Wrobel and Christine Landry of Michigan State and Dana Stearns and Jen Flynn of Ohio State — on the roster, which will be coached by Buckeyes coach Jim Stone.
ù Charnett Fair, a transfer from Golden West College who will join the Gophers this fall, is also training for international competition this summer. Fair, a junior middle blocker, is a member of the U.S. Pan-American team. The team will play for the second annual Colorado Cup July 26 through Aug. 1.

Chicoine was unseeded heading into the NCAA tournament, while Wolters was seeded ninth. He finished the season with a 32-17 overall record, and went 114-65 in his career to become the winningest player in Gophers history.
