Stabbing reported on light rail near campus

The stabbing occurred after a conflict between two men on the Green Line near the University of Minnesota campus.

A stabbing occurred on a westbound Green Line train before arriving at the East Bank Station around 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to Metro Transit officials.

The suspect, an adult male, stabbed a male victim after a reported conflict. The victim was taken to a hospital at the University of Minnesota.

“The individual … taken to the hospital has been dismissed as of today,” said Drew Kerr, a Metro Transit spokesperson. “Their injuries were reportedly minor.”

The suspect was arrested at East Bank Station and booked into Hennepin County jail. He will await charges from the attorney’s office on Monday, Kerr said. The cause of the conflict is unknown and under investigation.
