The Gophers elite strength of schedule wasn't enough to overcome a lack of wins against Top 50 RPI teams, a poor road record and a 26-point loss to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament.
Minnesota was left out of the NCAA Tournament field, which was announced on Sunday night.
Other bubble teams to get into the field included Iowa, NC State, BYU, Tennessee, Nebraska and Xavier.
The Gophers should be included in the NIT field, which will be announced tonight at 7:30 on ESPNU.
