Daily announces new publisher members

The office of the publisher members outline their plans for the coming year.

The new members of the office of the publisher for the Daily were chosen Wednesday.

Anna Weggel will be the co-publisher and editor in chief, Scott Sailer will be the co-publisher and business manager and Anna Leisa Sauser will be the co-publisher and president.

Weggel has worked in several positions at the Daily, including freelance reporter, reporter and editor. But she said she always has had a goal of being editor in chief.

Weggel has goals for the paper in the next year.

“I’d like to see the overall story quality improve,” she said.

She also said there should be more investigative and project work at the paper.

Weggel has plans to get the University community more involved in the paper.

One way possibly is by creating another back page feature that would include pictures and information from students.

She also would like to make changes to the Daily’s Web site to let students express their opinions and have more of a two-way form of communication with the paper.

Sailer is also no stranger to the Daily either.

Sailer started as a distribution intern, then worked as a marketing coordinator and marketing director.

He also has goals for the upcoming year.

“I want to take the Daily to new places,” he said.

Sailer said the way to better prepare the Daily is to enhance its technology.

Sauser started as a research administrator, then was the assistant director for survey research and the department’s director.

Sauser also said the Daily needs to communicate more with its readers.

“I know that we can do a better job listening to the community,” she said.

She said developing the Web site further is an important resource for better communication.

She said she is considering publishing more letters to the editor online.

“All of us want to see more reader feedback online,” she said.

Increasing diversity in the organization is something she said she would focus on in the coming year as well.
