Baseball team pulls out 5-3 win over Iowa State

The Minnesota baseball team picked up a mid-week win, and more importantly had a strong pitching performance Wednesday night against Iowa State.
The Gophers won 5-3 on the strength of its bullpen.
After starter C.J. Woodrow gave up two earned runs in the first two innings, five Minnesota relievers combined to pitch seven innings and allowed one more one to cross.
Minnesota’s batters spread the wealth too. Eight of the Gophers’ starters reached base at least once, with five batters tieing for the team high with two hits apiece.
Iowa State was led by Stillwater, Minn., native Aaron Runk at the plate, who singled his first three times at the plate and finished with a 3-for-5 night at the plate.
The Cyclones jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Minnesota chipped away at the lead. The Gophers took the lead for good in the fifth inning and the relievers made it stand.
The Big Ten-leading Gophers head to Michigan State this weekend for a four-game set.
