Halftime: Gophers survive Omaha’s sharpshooting tied with Mavericks at the half

by Jace Frederick

Nebraska-Omaha hit 10 threes in the first half, connecting on 10 of 16 triple tries, en route to a 44-44 tie with the Gophers at the half.

The Mavericks were just 4 of 15 from inside the arc and have just two points inside the paint.

Gophers junior guard Andre Hollins leads Minnesota with 11 points at the half.

Hollins hit two free throws for his fifth and sixth points of the game, and 999th and 1000th of his career. Andre Hollins was the second Gophers guard to reach the plateau in two games — Austin Hollins did it on Dec. 10th.

Omaha is led by guard Alex Phillips. Phillips hit on 4 of 6 three-point attempts and leads all scorers with 13 points.
