Mubarak declared “clinically dead”

Hosni Mubarak, Egypt's ousted leader, has been declared "clinically dead" by the Egypt state news agency, Reuters reported.

According to the Associated Press, the 84-year-old Mubarak was moved from Torah prison in Cairo to the nearby Maadi military hospital after suffering a stroke. He is currently on life support, and the Egypt news agency reported his condition is "rapidly deteriorating."

Moving the ousted leader from prison will likely cause public outrage, the Associated Press reported. Many believe that security and military officials are giving Mubarak "preferential treatment," and some even say the reports of his faltering health are merely an excuse for removing him from prison.

Mubarak's 30-year rule ended in last year's "Arab Spring" and he was sentenced to life in prison for neglecting to stop the killing of protesters during the 18-day uprising. He has been serving his sentence since June 2nd.
