RB Edwards among three out for first game

Freshman running back Berkley Edwards, junior tight end Alex Bisch and sophomore defensive lineman Jordan Hinojosa will sit out the Gophers' season opener with injuries, according to a depth chart released Tuesday.
Bisch appeared in eight games last season but did not record any statistics. Edwards and Hinojosa have yet to play a game for the Gophers.
Junior defensive back Derrick Wells is listed as questionable. Wells played in all 13 games last season and tied for third on the team in tackles but switched from safety to cornerback during spring camp.
As expected, sophomore Philip Nelson will start at quarterback.
The Gophers kick of the season at 6 p.m. Thursday against Nevada-Las Vegas.
