Football Pregame: Big Ten update

by Austin Cumblad

After a 16 hour drive through the night and no sleep, I’m going to forgo my usual pre-game thoughts and refer you to my preview for what to watch in this game: https://www.mndaily.com/2009/10/14/tough-task-ahead-young-rivalry

As we wait for kickoff on this cold and drizzly/snowy afternoon in Happy Valley, here’s an update on an interesting afternoon of Big Ten action.

Purdue 26, No. 7 Ohio State 18 – Huh?  What?  Yes, that just happened.  I’m baffled.  Befuddled.  Blown away.  Other "B" words indicating incredulity.  Was this just an out-of-body performance by Purdue or a complete flop by Ohio State?  I’ll need some time to figure it out.

No. 11 Iowa 20, Wisconsin 10 – Iowa continues to make its case as the best team in the Big Ten, going into Camp Randall and knocking off a Badgers team that typically protects its home field as well as anyone in the country.

Michigan State 24, Northwestern 14 – The Spartans seems to be putting the pieces together midway through the season.  They piled up all their points in the second half to move to 3-1 in the Big Ten and 4-3 overall.

Michigan 63, Delaware State 6 – After a close loss to Iowa a week ago, this win should help the Wolverines regain confidence going into a home contest against Penn State next week.
