Mike Reilly Named Big Ten’s First Star

After leaving a game against Northeastern early due to a penalty, junior defenseman Mike Reilly made the most of his ice time last weekend.

Reilly was named the Big Ten's First Star of the Week on Tuesday, after tallying a five point weekend on the road against Michigan State.

The 2013 First Team All-American picked up a goal and two assists in the team's 5-0 win over the Spartans on Friday, and followed up his performance with two assists in the team's 3-3 tie on Saturday.

Mike's older brother Connor chipped in three goals and an assist of his own, giving the pair nine total points. The two Reillys had a hand in six of the team's eight goals over the weekend. 

On, the season, Mike Reilly has 17 points off of three goals and 14 assists. He leads the Big Ten conference in points and assists among defenseman, and is tied for the lead in points among all skaters on the Gophers.

The Gophers are currently in the beginning of a month long break fromo competition. The Gophers will return to the ice Jan. 2 against Merrimack.
