A University of Minnesota student was robbed at 11:30 p.m. Monday night near Stadium Village, according to a crime alert sent by UMPD chief Greg Hestness.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Walnut Street Southeast and Washington Avenue Southeast.

The victim had withdrawn cash from an ATM when the suspect asked her for directions. He threatened to harm her with his knife if she screamed, took the money she had just withdrawn and fled the scene, according to the report.

The student was not hurt in the robbery and believes the suspect followed her to the ATM, according to the alert.

The suspect was last seen boarding an eastbound Green Line train at the East Bank Station, the crime alert said.

Minneapolis police are investigating the crime and ask anyone with information to call the police tip line at 612-692-8477.
