Four members of the Minnesota Lynx, including former Gophers star Lindsay Whalen, were named finalists for the 2012 US Olympic women’s basketball team on Monday.
Seimone Augustus, Rebekkah Brunson, Maya Moore, and Whalen were included in a list of 21 player selections made by the USA Basketball Women’s National Player Selection Committee. The Olympic roster will be narrowed down to 12 players sometime this spring.
The US women's basketball team has won four straight Olympic gold medals. Augustus was a member of the 2008 Olympic team that defeated Australia.
Basketball at the 2012 London Olympic Games will run from July 28 to August 12.
