More than 200 pints of blood were collected at the third annual Red Cross blood drive in honor of Sept. 11, 2001, on Thursday, closely matching last year’s totals.
“We’re very happy with the results,” said Clare Paradise, a North Suburban Blood Services donor recruitment representative. “It was a very steady day.”
Held at the McNamara alumni center, Paradise said some of the blood from the event might be used to help in hurricane-relief efforts.
The 200 pints collected is equivalent to 25 gallons or nearly a full barrel.
