The Big Ten dominated the Football News All-America team that was released Wednesday, but the first team was without any Gophers.
Junior center Ben Hamilton and senior strong safety Tyrone Carter were each named to the second team. Junior defensive end Karon Riley was named to the third team.
Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne and center Chris McIntosh made the first team on offense. Penn State linebacker LaVar Arrington and defensive end Courtney Brown led the Big Ten’s charge on defense. The duo were joined by Ohio State linebacker Na’il Diggs, Michigan State linebacker Julian Peterson and Wisconsin defensive back Jamar Fletcher.
Carter was named a first-team All-American by both the Collegefootballnews.com and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
