Power restored to St. John’s University

The lights are back on at St. John’s after a blackout forced administrators to cancel classes Monday.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (AP) âÄî The lights are back on at St. John’s University in central Minnesota after a blackout forced administrators to cancel classes Monday. Tom Hoen of Xcel Energy says an equipment failure cut power to the college about 11 p.m. Sunday and it wasn’t restored until about 11:45 p.m. Monday. Hoen says the problem started with an Xcel substation near the campus and was fixed when the utility brought a mobile substation from the Twin Cities. The mobile substation will remain in place until a permanent solution is found. Classes were canceled Monday at St. John’s and the nearby the College of St. Benedict. The university encouraged local St. John’s students to go home Monday night and to take a friend, if possible. ___ Information from: St. Cloud Times, http://www.sctimes.com
