The NFL is calling out to all of its 32 teams to search fans from the ankles up to improve fan safety this season.
Even with the NFL’s demand, the Minnesota Vikings will not be changing their security ways. The Minneapolis Business Journal reported that fans will still be seeing the same traditional bag search and pat-down before entering the Metrodome on game days.
However, the neighboring Green Bay Packers are taking the issue a step further and implementing hand-held metal detectors to accompany the extended pat-down. Other NFL franchises such as the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts have already sent out statements to fans regarding the enhanced pat-down procedures.
The NFL recommended the new policy before the kickoff of the 2011 season, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
