Four-year term
The attorney general is the chief legal officer for the state, as well as the legal adviser to the governor and all of the constitutional officers. The attorney general represents every board, commission and agency of the state.
This office also serves as the state’s principle consumer advocate through divisions focused on consumer protection, charities oversight, antitrust enforcement and utilities regulation.
The attorney general is regarded as the people’s attorney, advocating policy initiatives and legal reforms to protect Minnesotans.
