After 14 holes, Eric Van Rooyen leads the field at the Gopher Invitational golf tournament at four under par. Minnesota is in seventh place as a team at seven over par. The Gophers are led by Van Rooyen and Donald Constable who is two under par through 15 holes. Constable birdied the first three holes of his round and nearly had two more at seven and eight. He played consistent golf on the front nine hitting every fairway and carding only one bogey. Constable is in the feature trio of the day along with defending Gopher Invitational champion Kelly Kraft and John Hahn of Kent State. Hahn was three under par and Kraft was even through 15. Iowa holds the team lead at three over par while Minnesota is in second at four over. They are led by Chris Grant who hit a hole in one at the difficult 215 par three eighth hole on his way to a first round 69.
