Guest analyst Krista Chin won’t be joining us for this afternoon match, but will return tonight as Minnesota finishes the tournament with a match against North Carolina at 7:30. Around the tournament so far, Winthrop has lost to North Carolina in four sets, and TCU just beat the Tar Heels in a close five-set match. Minnesota topped TCU last night, despite some struggles passing an aggressive serve. Looking at the match today, freshman setter Alex Blatt took on most of the setting duties during warm-ups. Against Wintrop, possibly the weakest team in the tournament, she may see a large chunk of time, as may senior outside hitter Katie Vatterrodt and freshman middle blocker Ariana Filho. Another interesting note is that senior setter Rachel Hartmann was taking some swings on the right side today. It probably was nothing more than something to do to pass the time for her, but the hits didn’t look bad.
