Frozen yogurt shop opens in Dinkytown

Fru-lala is one of few restaurants of its kind in the Twin Cities.

Fru-lala, a health conscious frozen yogurt shop, opens Friday in Dinkytown. The shop, at 13th Avenue and 4th Street Southeast, was started by two University of Minnesota alumni. Sisters Gloria and Susan Kang, who graduated in 2008 with psychology degrees, are owners of the shop. âÄúWeâÄôve been around the U a lot,âÄù Gloria Kang said, adding she and her sister thought the campus was a good place for the shop because âÄústudents are more open to new ideas.âÄù The shop offers assorted frozen yogurt flavors with fruit, cereal and other toppings available. âÄúEverything went as planned,âÄù Gloria Kang said of the preparation. With no snags or setbacks, the store is opening on its originally planned first day of business. So far, employees are mostly University students and Gloria Kang said more students will likely be hired.
