Meeting to cover Mariucci Arena addition, nature park, quarterly budget

The University’s Board of Regents is holding its monthly committee meetings today at the Gateway Alumni Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The Audit Committee
The regents’ audit committee will discuss a plan to expand the University’s financial management intervention program.
The program allows senior administrative officers to establish aggressive courses of corrective action when serious mismanagement problems occur.
It also identifies areas within the University that can not adhere to expected control environment standards.
Finance and Operations Committee
The finance and operations committee will discuss the University’s quarterly management report.
The University has $3.6 billion in assets, an increase of $159.6 million during the past year. In addition, revenues for the quarter total more than a billion dollars — an increase of $23.5 million during the past year.

Educational Planning and Policy Committee
The committee will review a plan for University property in Rosemount, Minn.
The University plans to use the 7,500-acre property to build a park, which will feature a research center and nature park.
The committee will discuss strategies for the University’s outreach agenda. The agenda includes extension services and continuing education programs.
Faculty, Staff and Student Affairs Committee
The committee will hear a report from the University’s health care task force.
Facilities Committee
The regents will act on a proposal to add suites to the University’s Mariucci Arena.
University administrators plan to build 18 suites, adding 282 seats to the University’s hockey arena. The project is expected to cost $3.5 million.
The committee will also hear a report about the status of the University theater department’s Centennial Showboat.
