Is there too much money in politics? Yes. The influence special interest groups expect — and probably get — from political contributions is troubling. Rather than trying to limit the free speech of contributors, however, a more effective solution might be electing legislators seriously committed to getting the federal government back to its constitutional role.
The Constitution is plain. The federal government’s role is very limited, relatively speaking, as enumerated in Article 1, Section 8.
Moreover, the powers not delegated to the federal government by the Constitution are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
