Alumni fail to qualify

Five Gophers alumni wrestled in the Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, over the weekend, but none of them qualified for the Olympics.
 
 
Pat Smith made it the farthest of the five, but he lost in the 66 kilogram finals of Greco-Roman wrestling.
 
 
Alec Ortiz also competed and finished 2-2 at 75 kilograms. 
 
 
He lost in consolation quarterfinals.
 
 
Scott Schiller was the last of the Minnesota alumni competing in freestyle wrestling but lost in the consolation semifinals at 97 kilograms.
 
 
Jayson Ness and Tony Nelson were both eliminated in wrestlebacks at 65 and 125 kilograms, respectively.
