Head football coach Tim Brewster has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the University of Minnesota. âĂ„ĂºCoach Brewster and I have a shared vision for the future of Gopher football and I believe he has earned the opportunity to guide this program where we all want it to go,âĂ„Ă¹ Athletics Director Joel Maturi said in a statement. Terms of the deal will not be disclosed until the contract is signed, which Maturi expects to be done next week. Brewster originally signed a five-year contract with the University in 2007, worth $1 million per year. The extension would keep Brewster at Minnesota through the 2013 season. Maturi had publicly stated that he hoped BrewsterâÄôs extension would be in place prior to WednesdayâÄôs national signing day. âĂ„ĂºI am very excited about the contract extension and want to thank University President Robert Bruininks and Director of Athletics Joel Maturi for the confidence they have shown in me and our program,âĂ„Ă¹ Brewster said in a statement. âĂ„ĂºOur goal is to build a championship-caliber program.âĂ„Ă¹ In his three seasons at the University, Brewster has led the Gophers to a 14-24 record and consecutive Insight Bowl berths. The team went 3-5 in conference play last season, finishing eighth in the Big Ten.
