Ron Paul will address his fervent supports and kick-off his “Campaign for Liberty” at the Target Center Tuesday night in his Rally for the Republic. Congressman Paul, a Texas Republican whose presidential campaign during the primaries brought legions of support and a hero-like following, ended his White House bid in June, kicking off the Campaign for Liberty, an effort to support politicians similar to Paul and inform people on his ideals. “The country seemed to be ready and right for this,” Paul said in a news conference early Tuesday. “We’re in serious trouble.” The kickoff event was originally slated to take place at Williams Arena, but was moved to the larger venue to handle bigger crowds. The Target Center looks almost ready to host a rock concert; musical equipment adorns a stage set under multi-colored lights âÄî a red, white and blue podium befitting a presidential candidate is one of few signs hinting at a political event. The rally began at 12:30 today and features speakers such as former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, former U.S. congressman Barry Goldwater Jr. and Paul. “It’s going to be a varied smorgasbord of liberty topics,” Campaign for Liberty Minnesota coordinator Marianne Stebbins said.
