The Minnesota volleyball team has been ranked 15th in the 2001 USA Today/American Coaches Volleyball Association preseason poll, released Monday.
The Gophers went 30-4 in 2000, setting a school record for wins in the NCAA era, and finished second in the Big Ten with a 17-3 mark.
Defending national champion Nebraska is the top-ranked team in the poll. Conference rivals Penn State and Wisconsin were ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Minnesota opens its 14-match schedule at the Sports Pavilion with a non-conference match against Marquette on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
Wrestling schedule announced
Minnesota plays hosts to eight dual meets this season, highlighted by a match with arch-rival Iowa at Target Center on Friday, Feb. 1.
The season opens Nov. 10 with the Gophers traveling to Fargo, N.D., to compete in the Bison Open.
