How ’bout them Illini? They have proven to be one of the most offensively futile teams in the country, averaging a robust 13.6 points per game. Freshman RB Rocky Harvey is the lone bright spot on the team, with 556 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Harvey would probably like to know when QB Kurt Kittner will be yanked, as the freshman has thrown for one — yes, one — touchdown in seven games. Meanwhile, the Lions are well-rested and ready to chomp on some fresh meat. QB Kevin Thompson (967 yards, four touchdowns) is finally coming around as a starter, and will look to test the Illini secondary. Receiver Corey Jones is establishing himself as a legitimate deep threat in the absence of starter Joe Nastasi, while freshman RB Eric McCoo is looking to build on a 163 yard performance against Purdue. Defensively, the Lions are loaded with honors candidates, including linebackers LaVar Arrington and Brandon Short. This one should be over by the middle of the second quarter.
