SoundTown cancelled

SoundTown, the music and camping festival that debuted last year at the Somerset Amphitheater, has been cancelled. The festival's second installment was to take place July 27-28, but Somerset Amphitheater owner Matt Mithun said that he was forced to call off the festival due to low ticket sales.

"I've been trying every single way to keep this thing alive," he told the Current. "As you know we have a bigger financial partner in it this year with JAM, I had a very sobering conversation with them about overall ticket sales, and we're just not hitting the threshold we need to."

The festival was set to include headlining sets from Jane's Addiction, Florence and the Machine and Weezer, as well as local favorites like Doomtree, 4 on the Floor, Peter Wolf Crier. Mithun told the Star Tribune that it was "too early to tell" whether the festival will return for subsequent years. Information about refunds is expected to appear on SoundTown's website soon.
