The University is in the preliminary stages of searching for a replacement for David Johnson, former chancellor of the Morris campus who retired last July after eight years.
University President Mark Yudof appointed Samuel Schuman as interim chancellor. Schuman is vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Tonya Moten Brown, Yudof’s chief of staff, visited the campus last week to get input about the selection process, said Judy Riley, communications coordinator for the University of Minnesota-Morris.
Yudof is expected to appoint a search committee; Riley said Morris administrators have submitted the names of people to serve on the committee, but University Relations spokesman Bill Brady said Yudof has not named the committee yet.
Under the current timetable, Riley said, the new chancellor could be appointed as soon as January 2000 and begin work by July.
