Minnesota’s 1-0 victory over Iowa Thursday night gave the team a good start in the Big Ten, which senior forward Sara Clancy said is imperative to a successful season.
While the Gophers normally look to score as early as possible, the team took its time against the Hawkeyes. Minnesota played a 0-0 game until the 84th minute, when junior Molly Rouse scored the lone goal to avoid overtime.
The Gophers will continue conference season when they travel to Illinois on Sunday, where they haven’t won since 1997.
