The Big Ten conference named Gophers volleyball junior Tori Dixon the Co-Defensive Player of the Week along with Michigan State's Kori Moster on Monday.
Dixon, a middle blocker, earned the honor after her performance at last weekend's Diet Coke Classic. Minnesota won all three matches against Long Island, Miami and Albany without dropping a set. Dixon led her team in blocks with 14 throughout the weekend and averaged 1.6 per set.
Although she won a defensive award, the Minnesota native also made an offensive impact. She had the Gophers' best hitting percentage at .727 from 34 kills in 44 attempts.
The award is Dixon's first and the first for the Gophers since this week last season.
