Guard trio reinstated for ’16-17

Gophers guards Kevin Dorsey, Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer have been reinstated for the 2016-17 season, Minnesota associate athletic communications director Dan Reisig confirmed to the Minnesota Daily on Tuesday.

The trio was suspended on Feb. 28 before the team’s game against Illinois for a violation of team rules. On March 1, the suspensions were extended until the end of the season. The Associated Press reported on Feb. 29 that the three players were suspended after a sexually explicit video was posted on Dorsey’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, both of which were later disabled.

With the trio on the bench, Minnesota lost its last four games of the year. Mason led the Gophers in points and assists his sophomore season and averaged a team-high 13.8 points per game. He started all 27 games he played.

McBrayer started 14 of the 27 games he played in and averaged 5.9 points per game as a freshman. Dorsey played in 26 games and averaged 6.8 points per game.
