Sophomore Wilhelm Schauman and freshman Simon Nash of the Minnesota men’s golf team have been selected to 2001 PING All-America teams.
Schauman was named to the second team while Nash earned honorable mention citation with his top-15 finish at the NCAA championships. Schauman and Nash follow Minnesota’s 2000 All-Americans, James McLean and Martin LeMesurier.
Schauman, an All-Big Ten selection, led the Gophers in nearly every tournament this season. Ranked in the top 50 most of the season, Schauman won consecutive invitationals to start the season.
Nash joined the Gophers in the second semester of the academic year and quickly earned a spot in the starting lineup. The lone Minnesota golfer to advance to the final two rounds of the NCAA championships, Nash finished in a tie for 13th place after firing four consecutive rounds on par or better.
