The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Monday to hear the appeal of five Cuban men who were convicted in 2001 of spying for the Cuban government, according to Reuters.
The men argued that the trial was unfair because it took place in Miami, where a large Cuban American community resides, resulting in a biased jury. The justices did not comment on their refusal hear the final appeal. The five men will carry out their sentences – three received life sentences, one a 19-year sentence and one a 15-year sentence.
