The University of Minnesota-Morris began partnering with Minnesota Public Radio as an institutional sponsor July 1.
The Morris campus will be the ninth institutional sponsor and the only college in west central Minnesota to join the partnership.
“The partnership between MPR and UMM recognizes a natural and happy relationship between two of our state’s most precious cultural resources: the best public radio network, and the best public liberal arts college in America,” said Morris Chancellor Sam Schuman.
The institutional sponsorship means, in part, that the public will hear MPR mention Morris in its news services on a weekly basis, locally and in its statewide network of 29 stations and 19 translator stations.
“We provide them with a presence in west-central Minnesota and they in turn provide us with more visibility throughout this region and throughout the state of Minnesota,” said Morris spokeswoman Judy Riley.
With 87,000 members, MPR reaches communities across Minnesota and boasts the largest listener membership of any public radio network in the United States.
