In response to TuesdayâÄôs horrendous editorial cartoon, I am beginning to question the ethical practices of the paper representing the University of Minnesota community.
Not only are sexual assault and rape severely disgusting acts, but also extremely sensitive subjects at the University right now. How are the victims of these crimes supposed to react to this insensitivity? The lack of true investigation behind many of the stories recently published is unethical. The lack of journalistic integrity shown by The Minnesota Daily makes one wonder how it was ever deserving of the award for being the best-run student paper in the nation.
I hope deep introspection of our UniversityâÄôs values and beliefs can remind the Daily what respectful journalism is all about. I am a champion of the First Amendment, but rape is never funny.
