Thursday Bar âÄì Blingo at the Triple Rock Social Club Blingo seems to be the new craze sweeping the Minneapolis bar scene as of late. ItâÄôs basically bingo at a bar with an unexplained extra âÄúLâÄù attached. Compete for prizes over discount Surly as Ellie Blades hosts the hipster-friendly game at West BankâÄôs Triple Rock Social Club. Triple Rock Social Club 629 Cedar Ave. S. 8 p.m. Free Music âÄì Josh Ritter and Minnesota Orchestra Folk rock specialist dons all the integral components of a gifted songwriter. Ritter will morphing his modest folk diddys into something of a grander nature with the help of Minnesota Orchestra Hall. Orchestra Hall 1111 Nicollet Mall 7:30 p.m. $20/$40 Friday: Film âÄì âÄúInceptionâÄù With a star-studded cast that includes Michael Caine, Leonardo Dicaprio, that witty brat from Juno and a truly original-sounding plotline, Christopher NolanâÄôs sci-fi thriller âÄúInceptionâÄù just might be the most promising film of the summer. Let it also be noted that Nolan has never made a bad film. LetâÄôs hope âÄúInceptionâÄù is no exception. Area Theaters Music âÄì Hole Unfortunately, A&E couldnâÄôt land an interview with the booze-fuled grunge songstress Courtney Love. But Hole will be plowing through their spotty alt-rock catalog this Friday at the First Ave. If the recent Washington Post review is any indication of what her standard live show fare is like, then itâÄôs sure to be an entertaining, if not musical, performance. First Avenue 701 1st Ave N. 10 p.m $37.50 Saturday: Music âÄì Band of Horses Not to be confused with an actual band of horses, Band of Horses is a Seattle-based quintet known for their refreshing brand of sun-kissed alt-country. Driven by Ben BridwellâÄôs angelic vocals, Band of Horses delivers truly majestic live shows that have been rattling concert walls everywhere. State Theatre 805 Hennepin Ave. 7 p.m $35-$50 Music âÄì Solid Gold The synth-pop collective is more or less considered Twin Cities royalty. TheyâÄôll be performing at the Wesiman Art Museum with Lookbook so make sure you put on your dancing shoes. Weisman Art Museum 333 E. River Rd 9 p.m. $18 Watch this: Ghostbusters at the Riverview Theater âÄì If it werenâÄôt for the universal popularity and unrivaled brilliance of Ivan ReitmanâÄôs supernatural blockbuster, itâÄôs possible that our generation wouldâÄôve grown up completely unaware of Bill MurrayâÄôs slapstick roots. See the goofball-turned-Wes-Anderson-stock-actor in his prime with the RiverviewâÄôs special screening of âÄúGhostbusters.âÄù Listen to this: âÄúRated RâÄù Reissue âÄì Queens of the Stone Age are without a doubt the most underappreciated rock band of the decade (Yeah, thatâÄôs right, I said it). Re-packaged with b-sides and unreleased live tracks, listeners get a second serving of the stoner rock iconsâÄô drug-fueled masterpiece before they reached Guitar Hero fame. Eat this: The Donut Cooperative âÄì Using products acquired from local farmers, Dawn Lee and Laura KennedyâÄôs donut initiative supplies Minneapolis with natural ingredients and original flavors such as maple bacon and peanut butter and jelly. Drink this: Happy Hour at Psycho SuziâÄôs âÄì Still down about the World Cup final? Sick of seeing David VillaâÄôs gorgeous face everywhere? Well those photogenic Spaniards wonâÄôt be disappearing anytime soon, so try to drink away your summer sorrow with daily specials at Psycho SuziâÄôs. (3 p.m âÄì 6 p.m) Click this: By now, youâÄôve probably seen the hilarious epiphany that a cell phone camera-bearing wilderness man experienced from a âÄúdouble rainbow, all the way,âÄù but have you seen the auto-tune-heavy song by a clan of skinny white kids? http://www.youtube.com
