Sunday in Indiana was moving day for the Minnesota womenâÄôs golf team. After SaturdayâÄôs 36 holes at the Lady Northern, the Gophers rested in a tie for last at 12th. After SundayâÄôs final 18, they had vaulted into solo seventh thanks to the second-best team score of the day. A final-round 303 was bettered only by Purdue, the tournament host and team champion. The BoilermakersâÄô Maria Hernandez won the individual crown with a 54-hole total of one-over par 217. Minnesota was paced by sophomore Teresa Puga. She was rock solid all weekend, carding rounds of 75, 74 and 75 to finish T-5. PugaâÄôs teammates struggled Saturday but strung together some impressive rounds on Sunday. Senior Paige Bromen followed rounds of 85 and 77 with a final round 74; sophomore Mary Narsizi bounced back from a horrendous first 36 holes with a 76 over her final 18; and sophomore Michelle Edlin overcame three-straight double bogeys to start her final round and fired a 78.
