The Minnesota men’s waterpolo club got a boost towards the waterpolo championships with a strong showing last weekend.
The Gophers went 3-1, with wins over Western Illinois, Southern Illinois and Iowa. The lone loss came to Northern Illinois, 11-9. The tournament helps determine seeds for the waterpolo championships.
The Gophers beat Western Illinois, the defending Great Plains conference champions 11-10 Sunday. Southern Illinois forfitted its match and Minnesota beat Iowa 13-9.
The Gophers will be back in the pool Oct. 16, with similar competition. The Gophers will be facing Northern Illinois, Iowa State, Iowa and more at the Northern Illinois tournament.
