Nick Bjugstad scored both game-winning goals last weekend in the Gophers' season-opening sweep of Michigan State. On Tuesday, the WCHA rewarded his efforts by naming him its offensive player of the week.
The game-winners came early in the first periods of the two lopsided games. Minnesota defeated the Spartans 5-1 on Friday and 7-1 on Saturday. Bjugstad also had an assist in Friday's game.
Bjugstad's future was in question last offseason because of the possibility he would turn pro, but he decided to return for his junior season.
