Minnesota’s women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the William and Mary Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The team resumes play at the Rice Invitational this weekend.
In the “William” top flight, Valerie Vladea defeated No. 54 Danira Penic of Temple by default. In the consolation “Mary” flight, Angela Buergis was defeated by Chrissie Nolan of Michigan, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 2-6.
In “Green” singles flight, Michaela Havelkova defeated teammate Amy Thomas, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. In the “Gold” singles consolation, Eva Choe of Illinois defeated Nischela Reddy, 6-3, 6-3.
In the consolation “Silver” flight, Emily Hellberg from Boston College defeated Brandi Watts, 0-6, 2-6. In the “Tribe” singles flight, Kandis Batiste defeated Jessica Engel, 6-2, 3-1, retired.
In doubles action, Kamp and Yang of William & Mary defeated Reddy and Watts of Minnesota, 8-0. In the flight C doubles, Cici Anderson and Batiste defeated Engel and Molden of Boston College, 8-2.
