Zack Chase named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week
Published February 14, 2012
The Big Ten conference awarded Minnesota gymnast Zack Chase Co-Gymnast of the Week. The sophomore shares the honor with Felix Aronovich of Penn State.
Chase earned the title after a dominate performance in Iowa City, Iowa against Iowa and Nebraska. He won three of the six events for the Gophers. His scores of 14.8 on floor exercise, 14.7 on vault, and 14.5 on still rings led No. 6 Minnesota to 340 points. No. 11 Nebraska and No. 12 Iowa only mustered 336.5 and 334.5 points, respectively.
This is Chase's first Gymnast of the Week award. The last time the Big Ten chose a Minnesota gymnast was over two years ago on Jan. 25, 2010.
The men's gymnastics team returns to action Saturday in the Sports Pavilion against one of last week's opponents, Nebraska.
