Gophers men’s track athletes Staffan Strand and Vesa Rantanen were named to the GTE District V Spring At-Large All-America Academic Team on Tuesday.
Strand, a four-time Big Ten high jump champion, has a 3.89 GPA in computer engineering.
Rantanen, who won the NCAA indoor pole vault title this season, has a 3.48 GPA in psychology.
WCHA all-stars to compete
Gophers men’s hockey players Mike Anderson, Reggie Berg and Wyatt Smith are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association all-star team that will be the first ever to compete overseas this summer.
The squad will depart for Switzerland on Aug. 17 and compete against three other teams the following week.
