TCF Bank on Washington Avenue robbed
Published February 16, 2009
A TCF Bank on Washington Avenue was robbed in broad daylight Sunday afternoon, with the robber making off with what University police called âÄúless money than you would expect from a bank robbery.âÄù The robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m., and video surveillance inside the bank captured images of the suspect. The images will be included in the press report to be filed later this week, according to University police Lt. Chuck Miner. The FBI will be handling the investigation, as robbing an FDIC bank is a federal crime. The suspect is described as white, about 5-foot-8, with a large build, 35-45 years old. He was wearing a dark green cotton coat, blue jeans, a green stocking cap with a green stripe on the bottom, gloves and brown shoes, according to the Star Tribune. Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact the FBI at 612-376-3200, the Minneapolis Police Department, or CrimeStoppers. A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
