Friday: “City Pages 40th Birthday Party”

Don’t the people who for write City Pages seem so fun? Don’t you just want to hang out with them? And also write for them? So so badly? On Friday you (I) can celebrate the beloved Twin Cities’ publication’s 40th birthday with a dance party at First Avenue. Naturally, the night’s theme will take us right back to CP’s babyhood: 1979.

Where: First Ave, 701 N. 1st Ave., Minneapolis

When: 8 p.m.

Cost: $15

Age: 21+

Saturday: “We Still Love You”

Local comedy icon Kate McCarthy is graduating this semester, which means we can only claim her for a little while longer. Enjoy it while you can and check out her one-performance-only senior show on Saturday. To quote McCarthy, “Divorce is sad, but also funny!”

Sunday: “Mercado La Doña”

In partnership with Minneapolis Craft Market and UNO Branding, Latin-influenced brewery La Doña Cervecería is hosting a craft market highlighting Latinx artists and goods. Shop around, sip a beer and enjoy some treats from Dulceria bakery. Tacos and quesadillas from Flagsmash, too!

CULTURE TO CONSUME

Drink this: Fair State Co-op hard water

If you’re planning on spring jamming this weekend, you might need the perfect drink. White Claws are too obvious these days … what about something local? Fair State hard water is great — try the hibiscus and orange zest flavor.

Wear this: Linen

Pull out those linen long sleeves and pants. Or short sleeves? Shorts? Dresses? Hats? Jumpsuits? Oh linen! There’s nothing better for the weather, or better at all.

Listen to this: “Cuz I Love You”

You heard, right? Lizzo’s major label debut album, “Cuz I Love You,” was released last Friday. It’s as good as you’d imagine, and it has “Jerome.” She really, truly, loves us!
