City drops charges against 6 in riot

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) âÄî City prosecutors in Minneapolis have dropped charges against six people who had been accused of participating in a riot near the University of Minnesota campus. Five of the people had been charged with unlawful assembly. One was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction after the April 26 block party that got out of hand. Police have said cars were damaged and a group started a fire in the street. Officers also say some people threw bottles and rocks at them when they responded to the incident. Prosecutors say there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue charges against the six who appeared in court on Friday. But they say one person has pleaded guilty. ___ Information from: KSTP-TV, http://www.kstp.com
