Former tight end has run-in with law

Former Gophers standout and current Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Matt Spaeth is making news off the field, according to a Star Tribune article.

Police allegedly caught Spaeth urinating in the parking lot outside a Pittsburgh bar. Spaeth’s teammate kicker Jeff Reed allegedly raised his fists in a "fighting stance" when the police arrived to cite Spaeth’s illegal activity. Reed has been charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to ESPN.com.

Spaeth is second on the Pittsburgh depth chart at tight end and has recorded three receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown thus far this season.
