The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Coalition will host a protest Friday in response to the raids in Madelia and St. James, Minnesota.
The protest from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. will take place at the intersection of Bloomington Avenue and Lake Street in Minneapolis. Thus far, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have taken several immigrants into custody, according to a release. The MIRAC believes the current immigration system does not recognize how the economy and communities thrive with immigrants, and the coalition hopes to unite people, including students, to speak out against the raids, the release said. The MIRAC is calling on elected officials for immediate legalization of all immigrants and a moratorium on the raids and deportations. Josh Katzenstein International Reporter
