Minnesota junior Adam Weber was one of 33 quarterbacks named to the O’Brien Watch List, announced in a press release by Gophersports.

Named after Heisman trophy quarterback Davey O’Brien, the O’Brien trophy is given out annually to the nation’s top quarterback. The preseason watch list, selected by the O’Brien Selection Committee, is the first of three steps before the trophy is awarded in December. Semi-finalists are announced October 23, finalists November 23, and the winner receives the trophy December 10.

Three other Big Ten quarterbacks were named to the preseason watch list. Ohio State’s Terrelle Pryor, Penn State’s Daryll Clark and Illinois’ Juice Williams all made the list.

Other quarterbacks named to the list from around the country include Tim Tebow of Florida, Sam Bradford of Oklahoma and Colt McCoy of Texas.
